The Architects
I was commissioned by an architecture studio in Barcelona to produce Black & White images of a project from the earliest phase - bare ground to completion.
The commission evolved around the aspects of the building process, taking photographs of the architectural features, materials used and workers as the project progressed throughout the period of over a year.
The images were edited and presented to client on a monthly basis.
Client Testimonial:
“One day, flicking over an exhibition catalogue, we discovered an interesting photograph which happened to be from our city (…) We were impressed by it’s composition, it's contrast and the play in Black and White, but also it made us question the point of view the photographer chose for it’s execution.
There were the buildings, the sky, and the city… all of it wrapped in a laconic and melancholic, but incisive and precise form.
Montserrat Rubio is interested in all of this.
We decided to entrust Montserrat a job almost for a war correspondent: to follow the process of various buildings we were constructing in the same city, to enter it’s placental development, instead of presenting ready finished, polished and perhaps unanimated. We believe her work, answered to all of our expectations.” A. Poch & J Moliner
A private primary school in London required photographs of the school grounds and buildings which had been recently built / refurbished as well as images of the classrooms with candid images of staff and children during lessons.
Following the first session in 2013, I had been working in an on-going basis.
Client Testimonial:
"For several years now, Montserrat has been our treasured professional photographer who comes into school periodically to take photos of our facilities, children, staff in action and all sorts of educational activities. We primarily use these for our prospectus and website, relying on more amateur 'in-house' photos taken ourselves for our newsletter. Montserrat is a brilliant photographer and artist as well as a lovely warm person who flexibly accommodates to our evolving needs. I am sure you would not regret engaging her. We have no stake in saying this - its' merely our genuine conviction." D. Magyar
I was approached by a garden designer based in Surrey to photograph several finished projects in private homes around Surrey as well a set of headshots of herself to be featured on her website. We visited various locations at different times of the day to capture the best light to enhance the garden topography and style as well plants and sculptures.
The selected images were edited and delivered in high res and web ready.
Client Testimonial:
As a garden designer I was looking for images to promote my business. Montserrat captured perfectly the essence of my work and personality through the photographs she took. She understood the brief and provided a professional service - everything I was looking for. – F. Harrison
A property developer based in the Home Counties with a portfolio of buildings and spaces to be advertised and promoted in various channels.

This brief was a set of interior photographs for a film location agency.
The house, situated in South London with Victorian industrial origins, had been extended and modernised to become a spacious and contemporary family home.
I worked with both available natural light and portable lighting set. Being a "lived in house" provided me an extra advantage, as I was able to arrange and style some areas, using authentic found on site props.
Following the session I delivered all images, 20 of which I edited to be used immediately by the agency.
Client testimonial:
"We needed good interior photographs of a property in London. The images needed to display the space at it are best, getting the most of its assets, features and atmosphere. Montserrat created a set of work that delivered the results we required, giving the extra time and creative input." G. Douglas
